Project Description

The concept underpinning the design of this holiday home was developed so that it would stand out within the city's vast tourist accommodation offer.
Aita Suite, which pays homage to St. Agatha, patron saint of Catania, in its name, is inspired by the city and its characteristics, designing the interiors as well as the exteriors and incorporating materials, colours and atmospheres from the streets and squares. Various inspirations, from baroque to arte povera, are mixed in, creating an exclusive, elegant and refined project made mainly with island craftsmanship, products and materials.
Luca Maci is an architect with a passion for the Sicilian tradition, which he often declines, through research/synthesis work, in his interior and product design projects. He has been co-founder of the Ipogeo Architetti studio since 2024.

How did your passion for architecture/interior design come about?

Having always been immersed in the world of construction, for family reasons, the passion slowly grew. Fundamental was my university education and meeting a ‘master’ who nurtured and unveiled curiosity about the profession.

What is the most important focus when starting a new project?

Building a tailor-made project for the client within his budget. The results are so different, but passion and attention to detail are the constant method that unites them.

In your opinion, what role can the door play within a project?

Each element in the project is a fundamental building block. The door today can be an element of continuity with the wall surfaces; and this is a great resource for designers when this is required.
